1st, That the above leave was granted to commence on the Thirtieth of March, 1860 and end on the 29 of September 1861, on the ground of ill health, and that the medical certificate was produced of which a copy is annexed.

and Two months and 20 Days, beginning on 13th June, and ending on 3rd September.

4th, That provision has been made for the due execution of N.R. Masson, Esqre, Office during his absence by the appointment of F.S. Kueffum, Esqre. Judge's clerk.

I Certify that I have professionally attended N.R. Masson, Esqr, Ass = Reg = Supreme Court, since the death of Dr Harland, and that he has suffered from repeated attacks of Remittent Fever and Rheumatism, and notwithstanding his trip to Shanghae in the Autumn of last year, his health and constitution are much impaired; taking into consideration his present condition and his long residence in China I consider his return to Europe before the approaching hot season absolutely necessary.
